PINT SIZE QUOTES FROM PINT SIZE ARTISTS!

Even though I’ve done many paintings that are small in size, at first I was intimidated by the confines of 2 by 3 inches. However, I decided to seize the opportunity to experiment with direct wet-into-wet painting techniques I normally don’t use. Because of this, by the end of it I actually felt encouraged by the initial limitations to think outside my normal box. I ended up with two pieces that look like the rest of my paintings, but were accomplished with a much different approach.

I love the idea of Pint Size Painting project! It was unusual for most of us, tattoo artists, to use such a small canvases for our art, I guess. I enjoyed this experience greatly and it was an honor for me to be a part of this project.

From the very beginning I knew I wanted to do a portrait of Mario, who is a student of Pablo Picasso and lives in a town nearby. He appeared to be the right face to paint because of his expressional complexion and countenance, which enabled me to carve out many tiny details and thus enhance the portrait's elaborateness…I scratched, erased, used crayons, airbrush etc. I had to use a magnifying glass to see and paint all the tiny wrinkles, pores and whiskers. In order to create a true-to-life portrait I focused on one painting only, because the attention to detail takes many working hours. After all I was glad to have taken part in the Pint Size Painting project.
